Founded in 1993, the NoHo Actor's Studio was one of the first performance spaces to open in the newly inaugurated NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood. The NoHo Actor's Studio is a multi-faceted facility providing multiple venues for development of groundbreaking new work, workshops, and for an array of theater artists to collaborate.

We are committed to offering the most welcoming, friendly, and supportive environment for artists to learn, collaborate, experiment, and create. Our studio is passionate about giving emerging actors the training, tools, and opportunity to grow in their craft, while also being a forum for established actors to practice and expand their work.

Now celebrating its twentieth year in operation, the NoHo Actor's Studio has recently gone under a renovation to maintain it's position as one of the premier theater spaces in North Hollywood. We are located above the PitFire Pizza Company restaurant and is within walking distance of many other fine restaurants, unique shops, and the MTA Red Line/Orange Line subway stations.

THE ACTOR'S/WRITER'S LAB

The Lab is a place for actors and writers to work together on developing new material for theater. We believe the best work is created through collaboration, and so this lab exists to connect writers and actors together. The collaborations will lay the foundation for exciting new shows: compelling characters, vivid worlds, and gripping stories. Our hope is that these partnerships will fuel more work that we will commission for the studio.

Writers and actors will be paired up, and set out to create compelling characters, monologues, scenes that will be worked on through the Lab. We are looking for actors/writers who bring a strong artistic perspective, but also enjoy collaborating with others.

Traditional training/acting experience is fine, but not necessary for this lab. Our focus is on actors who are passionate about bringing their own unique world view, life experience, and imagination to the stage. We don't care if this comes with a BFA, or traditional theater experience. We care most about your passion to express a point of view forged directly from the world around you. Moreover, we are looking for writers who are eager to hear these distinct viewpoints, and to craft compelling stories out of them.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

has taught and directed young people for over 20 years, both in New York and Los Angeles. Jeff was a former child actor himself and began acting with his own television series at age 9. He was Andrew McCarthy's co-star in Warner's feature, The Beniker Gang, featured in Whispers In The Dark, co-starred with Andrea McArdle in the Broadway tour of Snoopy and in Huck Finn (directed by Broadway legend Joshua Logan).

Television includes guest-star roles on As The World Turns, The Street (Universal TV), Could it Be a Miracle and many others. Other leading roles in professional regional theatres include: Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Lion In Winter, Orphans King Lear, and Losing It (Directed by Home Improvement's Andy Cadiff), and most recently critical acclaim for the lead role in The Zoo Story with Mark Taper Foundation and Deaf West. Jeff has a BFA from New York University and has taught and directed at private schools, public schools, youth shelters as well as teaching and directing children and teens at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institutes in New York and Los Angeles. Some of his students include Shia LaBeouf and Scarlett Johansson among many other great actors.
